PortlandTrail Blazers All-Star forward, LaMarcus Aldridge, will not be healthyenough to compete for aroster spot on Team USA for the 2012 London Olympics, according tothe director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo.
He'sout, Colangelo told CSNNW.com. LaMarcus sent me an email abouta week ago saying he wouldn't be available until around August 1, sothat told me all I needed to know. He's out and we're movingforward.
InJanuary, Aldridge was among 20 finalist Colangelo hand-pick totryout for one of the final 12 roster spots.
TheUnited States Olympic Committee issued a June 18 deadline to turn ina 12-man roster, but Colangelo says he requested an extension due tothe uncertainty of some of his players and it was approved andextended to July 8.
Colangelosays Aldridge will not be considered for a roster spot.
Towardsthe end of last season, Aldridge started to feel discomfort in hiship area. He ended up having right hip surgery on May 10 byspecialist, Dr. Marc Philippon, in Vail Colo. to repair a slightlabral tear. His recovery time was approximately 2-4 months.
