ChrisHaynes, CSNNW.com Trail Blazers Insider (@ChrisBHaynes)CSNNW.comreported earlier this week that Portland Trail Blazers restrictedfree agent, Nicolas Batum, has already signed Minnesota's offer sheetworth four-years, 46.5 million.
Minnesota'sgeneral manager, David Kahn, was asked about that signing during histeleconference and Kahn responded saying Batum can't sign the sheetuntil Sunday night.
CSNNW.comimmediately got in touch with Kahn after the teleconference and heexplained that Batum did sign the offer sheet on Thursday. Minnesota's plan was to hold on to Batum's signature while they were engaged in sign-and-trade talks with Portland, but sinceMinnesota had no cap space at the time, the league ruled the offersheet invalid and Batum must sign it again.
Apparently, a team can't even hold on to a signature without cap space.
Hopefully,that sets the records straight.
