Onceagain, the Portland Trail Blazer fans are going to be on pins andneedles as they wait to see if they're going to get to see theirfranchise point guard at work this Friday night.
TrailBlazers head coach Terry Stotts announced at the conclusion oftoday's practice, that the team's preseason leading scorer (16.3 ppg)Damian Lillard did not practice and is a game time decision againstthe Golden State Warriors tomorrow night at the Rose Garden.
Lillardsat out Wednesday's home opener against the Denver Nuggets to rest a bruisedleft foot he sustained Monday night in Sacramento. However, he says hecould go tomorrow if he's given the green light.
Ifeel pretty good, Lillard said. I can do everything on thecourt like before. It's all up to coach if he wants to play me ornot. There's not much really I can do at this point.
Lillarddid get some three-point shots up and free throw work in duringpractice as he watched his team get after it.
LaMarcusAldridge said he's hopeful that Lillard will play, but he says he hasthe utmost confidence in Nolan Smith.
Nolanhas the experience and I think he'll fill in like he did last night,Aldridge said. We're just all trying to get better and I think youcan see Nolan getting better too.
Attoday's practice, it looked like there was an emphasis on gettingpoints down low as Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum were working ontheir post moves on the block against assistant coach DavidVanterpool and Aldridge was working on getting to the basket from theelbow spot.
Againstthe Nuggets last night, the Trail Blazers were outscored in the paint48-28. Stotts says that number didn't concern him and adds that whenhe was in Dallas, they often got outscored in the paint, but theystill won because it's all about getting your guys in their sweetspots.
Yougotta do what's best for your team, Stotts said. We needpenetration, we need to get to the rim, but there's a lot of ways towin games.
TheTrail Blazers are 2-2 during preseason play with the three remaininggames that includes the Warriors and a home-and-home matchup againstthe Utah Jazz.
