DamianLillard of the Portland Trail Blazers has just been notified that hehas been named co-MVP of the 2012 NBA Summer League. He shares theaward with Memphis Grizzlies guard Josh Selby.
Lillardreally exceeded expectations last week in Vegas and proved that hisdominate play at Weber State can translate over to the professionalranks.
CSNNW.comreached out to Lillard regarding his latest accomplishment and ofcourse, he gave credit to others first.
Iwant to say congratulations to Josh Selby too. It probably wouldnot be possible to win this award if we have not won games. So I wantto say thank you to my teammates as well," Lillard told CSNNW.com.
Andthanks to the coaches for putting me in position to be successful outthere. It's a great stepping stone getting me prepared for the realthing...the 2012-13 NBA season.
TrailBlazers general manger Neil Olshey, wasn't surprised Lillard had somuch success out there.
Thiswas what we knew he could do. The skill set that he brings to the table istransferable to this level, Olshey said. He had a good week andnow it's about getting better and improving on what he's learned.
Infour Summer League games, Lillard averaged 26.5 points per game (second in scoring behind Selby), 4rebounds, 5.3 assist in 32.8 minutes.
