ChrisHaynes, CSNNW.com Trail Blazers Insider (@ChrisBHaynes)TheNew York Daily News is reporting that the New York Knicks haveacquired guard Raymond Felton and center Kurt Thomas from the Portland TrailBlazers for forward Jared Jeffries, center Dan Gadzuric, and a 2016 second round pick.
According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Felton will sign a three-year, 10 million contract with the Trail Blazers before being traded to the Knicks.
However,Felton's agent, Colin Braynt, says the deal isn't complete as of yet.
We'recurrently having ongoing discussions on a multi-year deal with NewYork, Bryant told CSNNW.com. New York is where Ray wants to beand hopefully it's completed in a timely fashion.
Thomas says he wasn't shocked that he was traded, but says he was shocked to learn he was going back to New York. He gets an opportunity to return to the place he played seven seasons at and he considers it a blessing.
It'sa dream come true to go back to New York, Thomas told CSNNW.com. The onlything I'm sad about is that I'm going to have to miss Brian Grant'sFoundation today to take a physical in New York. But, it's amazing.Everywhere I go people consider me a Knick. It's just a dream come true.
When word first broke out about the trade, Thomas said he was informed by his friends on the right coast.
Myfriends in New York were texting me and telling me that I was traded to the Knicks and then Icalled my agent and he confirmed it," Thomas said. "I immediately called Felton and he said he was happy to go back there, too. So, we're excited."
Thomas signed a two-year deal with the Trail Blazers last offseason as he was sure this squad was a playoff contending team. Well, that wasn't the case.
The Trail Blazers fired head coach Nate McMillan midway during the season, multiple players had their worst season of their career, and the team missed out on the playoffs.
Through it all, Thomas said he enjoyed his time in Portland.
Ireally enjoyed Portland. The fans are amazing and they bring a lot of energy night after night," Thomas said. "Things started off great. We were 7-1 and looking pretty good, but then the bottom just fell out from under us. It wasdisappointing to tell you the truth. But, I enjoyed myself there and I hope the Portland fans don't forget me."
Jeffries is a free agent and must also sign a deal with the Knicks before being sent to the Trail Blazers.
