Patrick Ewing will interview for Blazers head coaching job

FormerOrlando Magic assistant coach Patrick Ewing will be one of thecandidates to interview with the Portland Trail Blazers for theirvacant head coach position, CSNNW.com has learned.

Ewing's former agent, David Falk, confirmed that Ewing will interview for the position.

TheHall-of-Fame center spent the last four seasons being a mentorskilldevelopment coach for the All-Star center Dwight Howard. Ewinginterviewed for the Charlotte Bobcats head coach opening, but wasn'tincluded as a finalist and Mike Dunlap would eventually land the gig.

Ewing, 49,has made it known that he would love to be a head coach in thisleague one day.

TrailBlazers general manager Neil Olshey said he would interview 7-10candidates in Las Vegas during Summer League. Names that have beenassociated with the search are Indiana's Brian Shaw, Golden State'sMike Malone, Memphis' Davd Joerger, Orlando's Steve Clifford, andChicago's assistant Adrian Griffin.

KalebCanales is the interim head coach and he's also being considered forthe position.
