CSNNW.com has confirmed that the Portland Trail Blazers have indeed reached out to the camps of free agents Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes.
Portland, Indiana, New Orleans, and Boston are the main teams targeting Landry, according to a source familiar with the Landry talks. Portland has established themselves as the aggressor in the early stages.
The Blazers have also got ahold of Hayes agent Calvin Andrews of BDA Sports Management to gauge if there was any interest in Portland.
Houston, Portland, Sacramento, Minnesota, Toronto, and Boston are all inquiring about Chucks services, Andrews told CSNNW.com. Chuck would love to play for anyone of those teams. There are some teams in that group who are ready to get a deal done now, but Im not at liberty to say who at this point.
CSNNW spoke with Andrews yesterday asking if the Blazers had contacted him and they hadnt at that point. The Blazers did contact us today and we had a good conversation. Well be talking again shortly, Andrews said.
As of now, the Blazers big men consist of LaMarcus Aldridge, Marcus Camby, Greg Oden, a frail Chris Johnson, and Luke Babbitt if you want to consider him a big. Blazer President Larry Miller mentioned the necessity to get some bulk in the front court and apparently theyre attempting to resolve that issue.
