I'm telling you, the "Twitter" is killing the tried and true "trust but verify" mantra we were taught back in Journalism 101 (I shake my walking cane at you, inter-web!) And the firestorm set ablaze re:@ESPNChrisLarson is a prime example.
Fortunately Craig Pintens, who serves as the Senior Associate ADMarketing & Public Relations for UO Ducks has a sense of humor. He's a person you would say is "in the know."
With "news", mostly rumor, that the Oregon Ducks Football program was going to be leveled by NCAA sanctions, it would only make perfect sense for the PR department to come out with a statement, which is oh so clever in its mockery.
Of course, for those who are unfamiliar with the reference (again, with the walking cane), cue the infamous 80s film starring Matthew Broderick, Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Rumors aren't always true, and can spiral out of control very quickly. Touch, Mr. Pintens. Touch.
