LAS VEGAS – USA Basketball announced its roster for the 2014 National Team Training Camp and some names you expected were included.

However, there was one name that was noticeably omitted.

That was Portland Trail Blazers All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge. He was left off of the 19-man roster that shall be dwindled down for the FIBA World Cup in Spain later this summer. A USA Basketball official told Monday morning that Aldridge was indeed invited, but the power forward elected to withdraw.

Pulling out appears to be for rest purposes solely, but this has become an unflattering cycle when it comes to Aldridge and his commitment issues with USA Basketball.

Obviously, this isn’t the first time Aldridge has withdrawn. He’s had some valid reasons, such as his mom’s health, and some questionable ones. This latest dropout likely will cost Aldridge a chance to compete in the Olympics.

Aldridge has one year remaining on his contract and one could understand that he wants to make sure he’s 100 percent healthy entering the 2014-15 season. But Kevin Love is also going into the final year of his deal and he hasn’t pulled out.

Portland’s big man reached out to Jerry Colangelo, the USA Basketball Chairman, to voice his desire to join the program and Colangelo let him back in. Unless Aldridge has a nagging injury he’s concerned about, this just doesn’t look good.

The Roster:

Bradley Beal, DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Andre Drummond, Kevin Durant, Kenneth Faired, Paul George, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Kevin Love, Chandler Parson, Derrick Rose, Klay Thompson.
