Talkin' Ball: Free agency options for Blazers
Portland Trail Blazers summer action is back on the tube.
Comcast SportsNet will televise all five Portland Trail Blazers Summer League games from Las Vegas, NV., plus any additional games if the team advances.
To incorporate a hometown flavor, Mike Barrett and Mike Rice, the Trail Blazers’ legendary TV broadcast tandem, will call the games along with CSN’s opinionated columnist Dwight Jaynes from the Moda Center studio.
After each game, the three-man crew will jump into postgame coverage mode filled with breakdowns, expert analysis and myself reporting live from the desert with post game reactions and exclusive interviews. Immediately following, Trail Blazers Pulse, CSN’s new hit social media interactive show will wrap things up.
Trail Blazers that will be on this year’s Summer League roster are CJ McCollum, Allen Crabbe, Will Barton, Thomas Robinson, Meyers Leonard and Joel Freeland.
Veteran point guards Jonathan Gibson, 26, and Bobby Brown, 29, will also be on the roster, CSNNW.com confirmed through their representation. Eurobasket.com reported the agreement last week. They both played in China last season and each averaged over 30 points a game.
Gibson is signed to play in China for one more season at approximately $2 million, but has an NBA escape clause if he chooses to sign with an NBA team.
“My goal is to make the Trail Blazers,” Gibson told CSNNW.com. “I’m going to compete and do my best to make the team. This is my opportunity and I want to take full advantage of it.”
Las Vegas Summer League begins play July 11, and the championship game will be on July 21. Games will be played at Thomas Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
