HIGHLIGHT LA, Lillard huge in Blazers game one win

HOUSTON -- I wrote yesterday about the officials' controversial call late in overtime in the Portland-Houston playoff game Sunday night -- the one the NBA admitted Monday was incorrect.

As is my custom, I posted a link to that piece on my Facebook account, where it was found by one of my long-time followers, ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy. As you probably remember, Donaghy served time in prison for admitting to providing information to gamblers about NBA games. But he's still got plenty of opinions about officiating in the NBA. He left several comments on my Facebook post, some of them controversial. And here they are:

Tim Donaghy: It seemed like Foster had money on Portland and Salvatore had money on Houston....Both were killing the other team....Look for several fouls on illegal screens to be called early and often in Game 2... Several calls were missed on both ends on the floor and will be noted in the film for the game 2 officials.

Another commenter suggested that Foster has no love for Portland:

Scott Foster has always hated and killed Portland. Id be shocked if he did anything to help Portland. Any Blazer fan hears Scott Foster and we assume the Blazers will lose.

Donaghy responded:

Tim Donaghy:.Maybe so...But, in that game he was trying to help Portland as the road team because they were getting screwed by Salvatore who couldn't referee a girls 5th and 6th grade game without messing it up...

Yikes. He then passed me a compliment before taking off on David Stern:

Tim Donaghy: LOL...I also like Dwight...He tells it like it is....Stern's time was up, nobody was buying his BS and arrogance anymore...NBA Playoff games should be officiated just like a regular season game, the rules don't change. The problem becomes the league gets more involved in how they want the games officiated and it messes everything up..

Donaghy was asked why the league came out and said the Dwight Howard call was incorrect and he responded:

Tim Donaghy: Because it was the one that hurt the Rockets the most and basically decided the game.

Well, I don't think Tim is going to be getting that Christmas card from Foster or Salvatore this year.

By the way, I messaged Donaghy and told him I'd be using his comments on csnnw.com and he said, sarcastically:

Make sure you add we are BFF's...LOL
