MEMPHIS -- Joel Freeland says he has shifted his focus to returning in the playoffs rather than during the regular season.
The backup center sprained the MCL in his right knee on Feb. 11 against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Moda Center. His timetable was a four-to-eight week recovery time.
“I’m still not where I need to be,” Freeland told CSNNW.com. “I was projected to be out 4-8 weeks and I was shooting for that four-week mark. I’m not ready yet. The playoffs are the more likely scenario.
Freeland, 27, had a platelet rich plasma injection done last week to help the recovery process.
The second year forward is averaging 3.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 51 appearances.
