Jones-Lillard: one dunk champion to another?
The NBA confirmed Chris Haynes' report Thursday that Damian Lillard will compete in the slam dunk contest. Adding to the list of events, Damian Lillard becomes the first player in NBA history to take on each All-Star event.
Lillard spoke to the Trail Blazers traveling brass regarding his decision, the pressure to win the events and how it all came to be.
Among those in attendance Lillard spoke to was Fred Jones, a University of Oregon graduate and winner of the 2004 slam dunk competition. Jones beat out two-time champion Jason Richardson.
Jones, a one-time Portland Trail Blazer who currently resides in Indianapolis, assembled a topnotch tech team to launch a private social media site he calls Player Population (playerpopulation.com) that is used exclusively for current and former NBA players with the sole purpose of keeping players in contact with one another.
He took time out of his busy schedule to talk with Damian Lillard about what he's up against and what it will take to hoist the trophy over his head.
