NEW YORK -- Portland Trail Blazers’ legendary radio play-by-play caller Brian Wheeler is recovering from a physical ailment that is not life-threatening, one source relays to CSNNW.com.
According to another source, Wheeler is recovering well and is expected to return to his post relatively soon after the Trail Blazers return from their four-game road trip.
Due to his condition, Wheels was forced to end his 1,359 consecutive games called streak last week dating back to when he joined the organization in 1998.
While Wheels recovers, former Sports Director at KEX/KPOJ radio in Portland Scott Lynn will hold down the Trail Blazers’ radio play-by-play duties for the next two road games on Fox Sports Radio 620 AM.
Lynn’s role will start tonight when Portland takes on the Brooklyn Nets and then another shift on Wednesday when the team faces the Milwaukee Bucks.
Color commentator Antonio Harvey will resume his natural radio analyst role after teaming up with Mike Barrett and Mike Rice on the television side for the first two games of this four-game road trip.
Portland opted to simulcast their television audio for radio consumption for the first two games of this trip.
