It came down to the wire at the end, as it always does, but the Beavers played the closest thing to a complete game we've seen all year; out-rebounding WSU 34-24, holding off a team who was shooting 50% behind the arc, limiting shooting threat Brock Motum.
Roberto Nelson played as though, finally, he had something to lose tonight- especially at the end, where that "never again" mentality came into play as the Cougars crept within three points.
Nelson had 17 points and four rebounds, one of which came in a crucial last minute moment.
It was also a breakout night for Challe Barton, who drilled three 3-pointers and had 11 points tonight.
Eric Moreland had a solid all-around game tonight, with 14 rebounds, 3 steals and 11 points.
While the Beavers came out hot and build a solid lead early, the Cougars made a strong comeback attempt in the second half, nailing threes and getting withing 5 points in the final two minutes. But for the first time, the Beavers didn't flinch. Craig Robinson coached them through the tense moments, made sure they executed, and finally, they played to win.
Beavers play the Huskies in Seattle Saturday at 8pm.
