Haynes & Jaynes: Reaction to McCollum Pick
The Portland Trail Blazers used its No. 10 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft to select Lehigh guard C.J. McCollum.
McCollum, 22, is a 6-3 combo guard that averaged 19 points or higher in all four years of collegiate ball. He will bring immediate help to a Trail Blazer bench that was worst in the league last season.
Despite his height, McCollum and Lillard believe they will be a force on the court at the same time.
“We can feed off of each other. I can play off the ball or handle the ball and Dame can do the same,” McCollum said in Chicago during the Pre-Draft Combine.
“I absolutely love the pick,” Lillard said via text. “I think we will work well together in the backcourt.”
Only time will tell.
This pretty much signals the end of Eric Maynor's Trail Blazer tenure. He will likely not be tendered a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent come July 1.
