Lillard: Losing the 2nd of the back to back
Los Angeles, Calif. – After the Portland Trail Blazers came back to win last night against the the Los Angeles Clippers, the Clippers decided to return the favor tonight in a 96-83 defeat of the Trail Blazers at Staples Center.
The Clippers (33-13) held their biggest lead of 19 with 6:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Trail Blazers (22-22) have shown that they are capable of making magnificent comebacks, but tonight the deficit would be too much to overcome.
Blake Griffin has been a thorn in the side of the Trail Blazers for the last 48 hours. On Saturday he posted numbers of 24 points to go along with eight rebounds and 10 assists. This evening he went for a game-high 23 points in addition to nine assists, and five rebounds.
LaMarcus Aldridge bounced-back from a subpar game last night to produce 21 points and 11 rebounds. Aldridge has 10 double-doubles in the month of January, tied for most in the NBA.
Damian Lillard added 16 points and five assists. Nicolas Batum followed his triple-double performance up with eight points, six rebounds and eight assists. Wesley Matthews contributed seven points and eight assists.
JJ Hickson just missed his 25th double-double of the season having finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.
