Dwyane Wade: Getting In On the Fun
Miami – The Miami Heat got the payback they were hoping for when they defeated the Trail Blazers tonight 117-104 at American Airlines Arena.
LeBron James led the Heat (35-14) with 30 points, six rebounds and nine assists. Chris Bosh added 32 points and 11 rebounds. Dwyane Wade put in 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
The Trail Blazers withstood the Heat's initial run after the Heat scored on their first seven field goals to go up 15-4. Thanks to an attacking Damian Lillard who erupted for 18 of his 33 points in the first half and LaMarcus Aldridge, who at one point scored 15 straight points in the second quarter, were able to take the lead and build it to 14 points.
The Heat being the Heat, quickly shifted gears and finished the first half off on a 13-2 run to climb within one going into halftime.
In the last four minutes of the second quarter to mid-third quarter, the Heat went on a 30-8 run and led by as many as 14 points. Lillard stayed aggressive tallying nine points in the quarter to get his team withing four going into the fourth.
The fourth was Heat time, putting a dagger of a 16-3 run in the closing minutes of the game to cinch the victory.
Aldridge finished the game with 29 points and five rebounds.
Realizing how important tonight's game was (a win tonight and tomorrow equals .500 on this trip), Trail Blazers Head Coach elected to go with his veteran group off the bench inserting Jared Jeffries, Sasha Pavlovic and Ronnie Price instead of Meyers Leonard and Nolan Smith who have been the backups for Lillard and Hickson as of late.
Will Barton was deactivated in favor of Pavlovic.
