Salt Lake City – Damian Lillard's college homecoming game was ruined tonight after the Utah Jazz put on a defensive performance that stifled the Portland Trail Blazers offense in rout to a 86-77 win at EnergySolutions Arena.
The Trail Blazers (23-23) were held to 36 percent shooting from the field.
Roughly 200 student and faculty from nearby Weber State College came to the support of Lillard and he made sure he gave them a show. He led the Trail Blazers with a game-high 26 points and added five assists.
LaMarcus Aldridge produced 16 points and nine rebounds. JJ Hickson added 11 points and six rebounds.
Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews rolled his right ankle with 4:13 left in third quarter. He stayed down momentarily before being being helped off the court by JJ Hickson and Jared Jeffries. X-Rays came back negative and he would not return.
Al Jefferson paved the way for the Jazz (26-21) with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Reserve Derrick Favors grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in 23 minutes.
