Salt Lake City – Portland Trail Blazers rookie standout Damian Lillard has been invited to participate in the NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge during All-Star Weekend in Houston, CSNNW.com has learned.
According to a person close to the rookie point guard, the three-time Rookie of the Month has accepted the invitation.
Lillard is known for his offensive ability, but just as well, he has dazzled this league with his ball handling ability and passing skills ever since he stepped foot in the league.
It is not known at this time who Lillard will compete against.
The Skills challenge is a timed contest that has eight steps: 1. The participant must convert a layup. 2. Proceed to dribble around three obstacles. 3. Pass the ball through a tire. 4. Pass the ball through the tire via a bounce pass. 5. Shoot/Make a 20-foot jump-shot. 6. Pass the ball through a tire for the final time. 7. Dribble through a second round of obstacles. 8. Finish it off with a layup.
San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker won the event last year with a time of 32.8 seconds. Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams set the all-time record of 25.5 seconds in 2008 as a member of the Utah Jazz.
Lillard is also competing in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge that weekend.
In 45 games, Lillard is averaging 18.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists.
