Wesley: More Worried About Elbow Than Ankle
TUALATIN – Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews (ankle) did not practice this afternoon in the team's first practice session of the second half.
Instead, the fourth year pro out of Marquette received treatment on his sprained left ankle he sustained in the first 90 seconds of a blowout loss to New Orleans last week.
Matthews is listed as a game-time decision tomorrow night when the Tail Blazers host the Phoenix Suns. He will be reevaluated at tomorrow morning's shootaround.
However, the ankle injury is not the most pressing concern for Matthews. He explained to members of the media that his sprained left elbow is more of a issue at this point as it limits his ball handling ability. Matthews first hurt his elbow in a loss to Orlando last week and apparently it hasn't improved.
In 46 games this season, Matthews is averaging 14.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
