Harrington: Real cost of firing Jeff Tedford
Joey Harrington played under former offensive coordinator of the Oregon Ducks and head coach of the Cal Bears Jeff Tedford from 1998-2001. Tedford, who was known for grooming quarterbacks, including Akili Smith, Aaron Rodgers, and Trent Dilfer to name a few, was removed from his post in Berkeley at the end of last season. Sonny Dykes, the up and coming coach from Louisiana Tech, was named the head coach a short time later, bringing with him an electric offense that has its freshman quarterback among the highest in passing yards in the nation and the tops the list in total offense. So, was it a good move on Cal's part to remove Tedford when they did, or was the cost of letting him go to bring in a new coach just too steep. Joey Harrington explains why getting rid of Tedford was not the solution for the Cal Bears.
