Ask Dwight: Mariota & DAT going pro?
Former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla has signed with an agent and will enter the 2014 NFL Draft, according to Matt Miller of the Bleacher Report.
Lyerla signed with XL Sports Agency, who has represented Ricky Williams and Junior Seau, Miller reports.
Lyerla, a junior, announced he was leaving the football program and the school "on good terms" and that it was "time to move on".
Lyerla, a former 5-star recruit from Hillsboro, played in three games this season and had two catches for 26 yards and three rushes for 17 yards and one touchdown.
The former Oregon tight end caught 11 TDs on 34 catches for 565 yards in his career.
Lyerla has been in spotlight this year after his spat with Oregon Head Coach Mark Helfrich where he voiced his frustration for the Helfrich for allowing people to "draw conclusions" after he missed the Oregon-Tennessee game due to illness; Helfrich referred to Lyerla's absence as "circumstances".
Lyerla was suspended for the Ducks October 5th win over Colorado for a “violation of team rules.” Before his departure, Lylera was projected as an early round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
