Mariota responds to NCAA documents
Wednesday, Sports Illustrated first reported Chip Kelly and Oregon Ducks officials met in Dallas this past Friday with the Committee on Infractions stemming from Kelly and the Ducks potential violations of NCAA rules that include inappropriate relationships with scouting services run by Willie Lyles.
In a statement, the UO athletic department neither confirmed nor denied SI's report.
“Regardless of when or where the hearing occurs, review is ongoing until the NCAA Committee in Infractions issues its final report,” the statement reads. “The integrity of the process and our continued full cooperation with the NCAA prohibits us from publicly discussing the specifics of this matter.”
Sports Illustrated cited an anonymous source that said a final ruling should be announced in the next “60-90 days”.
Last week, the University of Oregon released a 515 pages of documents to the Oregonian which laid out violations in a summary disposition. The documents are several months old and were signed by university president Michael Gottfredson and athletic director Rob Mullens on October 30th 2012. The documents showed that Oregon and the NCAA agreed that the university committed “major violations”.
