Rapid Reaction: Eighth inning rally not enough, Ducks fall to Sun Devils in 11 innings, 6-5

Tempe, AZ- Despite a four run rally in the 8th inning, the No. 11 Oregon Ducks fell to the No. 24 Arizona State Sun Devils, 6-5 in 11 innings on Friday night.

Pinch hitter RJ Ybarra drove in Max Rossiter with a one out single in the bottom of the 11th for the Sun Devils (18-8-1, 5-5).  The Ducks (22-7, 8-2) fell for the first time since a loss to USC on March 17th.

In the 8th inning, the Ducks scored four runs on five straight hits to tie the game at 5-5 after a stellar pitching performance by ASU's Trevor Williams.

3B Mitchell Tolman's third hit of the night, a triple scored 1B Ryon Healy to make it a 5-4 game. RF Steven Packard followed with a game-tying RBI single to bring the score to 5-5.

Ducks starter Jake Reed surrendered five runs on seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings but earned a no decision.

Ryan Burr (1-0) earned the win for the Sun Devils, while Christian Jones (0-1) took the loss for the Ducks.

The Ducks look to rebound tomorrow at 6:30pm as they take on the Sun Devils for the second of a three game series.
