FRESNO – Free agent forward Al Farouq-Aminu has reached an agreement with the Dallas Mavericks, league sources informed CSNNW.com.
The agreement is for two years, $2.1 million with the second year being a player option, we're told.
The versatile forward is one of the league’s top rebounders at his position and will provide instant stability in the Mavericks’ frontcourt. Dallas voided the contract of Rashard Lewis when a physical revealed he required knee surgery. That opened the door for Aminu.
Aminu, 23, was taken with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. He spent the past three seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans.
He has a career average of 6.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.5 blocks. At his age, his best years have yet to come.
