Not to anyone's surprise, Golden State Warriors forward Richard Jefferson will exercise his player option for the 2013-14 season and become an unrestricted free agent after the season concludes, his agent Todd Eley of Stratosphere Sports conveyed to CSNNW.com.
“Richard has exercised his option to include the 2013-14 season in his current contract,” Eley said.
Jefferson, 32, will earn $11 million next season by opting into the final year of a four-year, $38 million contract he signed in 2010. If he had declined the option, that would have made him an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The 12-year vet appeared in 56 game during his 2012-13 campaign and averaged 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 10.1 minutes per game.
Last week Warriors center Andris Biedrins exercised his player option for next season and will earn $9 million.
